Al Wahda and Al Jazira all but out

-

Al Wahda are virtually out of the Asian Champions League following a 1-0 defeat away to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in their fourth group game on Monday.

Carlos Eduardo scored from a penalty on 24 minutes after Leo Bonatini was brought down by keeper Rashid Ali. Al Wahda had the chance to equalise before the break but Sebastian Tagliabue’s penalty was saved by Abdullah Al Mayoof.

Al Hilal move top of the group with this victory, but Al Wahda remain rock bottom with a point. The Clarets are now six points behind a necessary secondplaced qualifying spot with just two group games to go.

Al Jazira are in a similar situation after they earned their first point of the campaign with a goalless draw at home to Saudi Arabia’s Al Fateh on Monday. They are also six points off second with two games remaining.
