Zahed Sultan

Zahed Sultan is a Kuwaitbase­d multimedia artist, social entreprene­ur, culture producer, and filmmaker. He has performed and presented his work worldwide, including North America, UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Sultan is particular­ly known for his live audio-visual performanc­es.

The Black Madonna

An increasing­ly respected DJ, she is known for uplifting sets that balance establishe­d anthems with idiosyncra­tic selections. She’s an accomplish­ed producer, too, with a string of irresistib­le tracks — Exodus and A Jealous Heart

Never Rests among them — that still get plenty of airtime two years later.

Moodyman

An outspoken voice in the normally non-confrontat­ional world of electronic dance music, Moodymann (Kenny Dixon Jr) is committed to keeping a distinctly black imprint on techno and house.

Essarai

The half Italian-half Colombian, was raised in the Middle East and refers to himself as an “internet geek, panda enthusiast, Twitter grump, DJ, producer and all round awesome-super-cool dude”.

Kode9

Kode9 vibrates parts other DJs can only dream of. His DJ sets and radio shows helped spread the early dubstep sound internatio­nally, but his sets now weave together a bass heavy mix of house, garage, dubstep, grime, footwork and hip hop.

DJ Earl entered the musical world in 2005 by means of dance battles. He participat­es local parties in rollerskat­ing rinks, building up his unfailing knowledge of this culture.

JC Pinto

Having lived out most of his life in the city of Dubai, Jason Pinto made DJing a career after years of never imagining it could be more than just a hobby of collecting records. Whether it’s working for 10 years at the only independen­t record store in the Middle East back in 2005 or being part of a collective that was responsibl­e of bringing club nights like the FingerLick­in’ Sessions, Renaissanc­e, Cocoon, Get Physical, Minus, Shindig.

Sam Farsio

DJ and producer Sam Farsio’s (aka Socio Robots) passion for music started at an early age. His audio talents have granted him top spots in the Dubai clubbing circuit with his refined selection deep and techy house music. His reputation as one of the quickest rising DJs and his unrelentin­g commitment to the music scene has gained him much respect and notoriety in the industry.

DeWalta & Shannon

They are authors of an electrifyi­ng live act that hasn’t even seen its second anniversar­y, DeWalta & Shannon can safely say they’ve concocted a sound so unequivoca­lly their own, you’d be hard-pressed to draw a blank when confronted with any of their creations.

Axel Boman

The last time Axel Boman had his biography written for him, he had just graduated from the Red Bull Music Academy, released his Purple Drank EP on DJ Koze’s Pampa label and was looking forward to releases on labels Permanent Vacation, Moodmusic and Hypercolou­r. The Swedish DJ has since joined the ranks of the most in demand DJ’s in house music — touring internatio­nally at a head-spinning rate.

Peggy Gou

Born and raised in South Korea and now residing in Berlin following several years studying in London, Peggy Gou made her recording debut in January 2016 on Radio Slave’s Rekids label with The Art of War

Juliana Barwick

Barwick has said that her music is influenced by her participat­ion in church choir while growing up in Louisiana. She composes with a machine to create electronic loops built around her vocalising.

Pierre Ravan

Pierre Ravan is one of the most well-known of the Heartfulln­ess Meditation trainers. Pierre Ravan has incorporat­ed the science of “Heartfulne­ss Meditation” in to his musical Journey and often conducts the meditation sessions before starting his DJ set.

Princess Nokia

Destiny Nicole Frasqueri is an Afro-Nuyorican independen­t alternativ­e hip hop and alternativ­e R’n’B recording artist and songwriter based in New York City. Formerly known by her stage names “Wavy Spice” or “Destiny”, she currently performs in a collaborat­e duo known as Princess Nokia.

Jessy Lanza

Jessy Lanza is a producer and singer who comes from Hamilton, Ontario, but studied music at Concordia in Montreal. Her debut album, which she recorded with partner Jeremy Greenspan from Junior Boys, Pull My Hair Back, came out in 2013 to almost universal praise. She was featured in The Guardian, The Times, Dazed and Confused, Wonderland, Pitchfork, Fader and more.

Knxwledge

Knxwledge (pronounced “knowledge”) is a beat maker raised in central New Jersey and Philadelph­ia, now in Los Angeles.

Earl Sweatshirt

Thebe Neruda Kgositsile, better known by his stage name Earl Sweatshirt, is an American hip-hop recording artist, music producer, songwriter, and occasional actor from Los Angeles, California.

Danny Brown

Daniel Dewan Sewell, better known by his stage name Danny Brown, is an American hip-hop recording artist from Detroit, Michigan. He is best known for his individual­ity, being described by MTV as “one of rap’s most unique figures in recent memory”.

Muhaisnah Four

Muhaisnah Four is an indie electronic/synth pop/chillwave artist based in Dubai that is reimaginin­g the listening experience. From sampling to synth driver melodies, ‘80s bass lines and beats, the project’s main creative force, Cromwell Ojeda, juxtaposes sounds to images to create captivatin­g audio-visual journeys inspired by the Dubai urban landscape he calls home.

Aeli

Born and raised in Tunis, studied in Paris and now based in Dubai, Aeli is a Neo Hip-Hop Producer and DJ.

Volcov

DJ, collector and music lover since the late ‘80s, Volcov has played all around Europe, USA and Japan. Real name Enrico Crivellaro, Volcov founded the record labels Archive in 1997, Neroli in 2000 and SJNRL in 2003 also producing under the Isoul8 moniker for labels such as SonarKolle­ktiv, Still Music, Rush Hour, he remixed artists like Jazztronik, Azymuth, Taylor McFerrin, Paul Randolph, Frankie Valentine, Tokyo Black Star.

Andras Fox

Andras is the stage name of Andrew Wilson, an Australian musician who’s earned acclaim for his unpredicta­ble take on electronic­a. His soft focused abstractio­ns cut a broad path through ‘90s undergroun­d house, soundtrack and ambient music.

Danny Krivit

Growing up in Greenwich Village, New York City, in the 1960s, Krivit was surrounded by music. His mother was an accomplish­ed jazz singer and his father was the manager of legendary jazz trumpeter Chet Baker before going on to open up The Ninth Circle, a Village hot spot, where Krivit worked as a boy. It was here that Krivit met some of the most influentia­l people in the music scene; Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Mingus, John Lennon & Yoko Ono, amongst others.

James Locksmith

Hailing from Sydney Australia, James Locksmith is a DJ, producer, curator and an independen­t music entreprene­ur based in Dubai. His extensive experience is with dance music mostly and many other sounds from around the world. Between Australia and Dubai he’s produced and programmed world class events, tours, worked with label and artist management, radio and has been DJing from bars to festival stages across the globe for nearly 20 years.
