Two caught with 3kg heroin in Dubai

-

Police arrested two Asian men and seized 3kg of heroin from their possession in Dubai earlier this month, an officer said yesterday.

Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, said the two men were trying to sell the drugs after taking instructions from a third suspect who was staying in their home country.

“We set a trap and arrested the suspects red-handed after they tried to sell the drugs to an undercover officer near a market in Dubai,” Maj-Gen Al Mansouri said.

Colonel Eid Mohammad Thani Hareb, director of the police’s Anti-Narcotic Department, said the two suspects — 36-year-old N.K. and 32-year-old H.A. — worked as salesmen. The suspects confessed that they brought the drugs from a warehouse in an industrial area in the country and that the substance was smuggled into the country by a third suspect who is presently outside the country. “The contraband was smuggled into the country by hiding it among automobile spare parts,” Col Hareb added.

The two were referred to the Public Prosecution.
