Panoli, Aravind slam tons to share record double century partnershi­p

Dubai Under-16 openers cracks centuries against Sharjah in inter emirates tournament

Ronak Panoli and Vriitya Aravind cracked centuries for Dubai Cricket Council (DCC) Under-16 team to post a mammoth 238 runs partnershi­p in the UAE Under-16 Inter Emirates cricket tournament against Sharjah Cricket Council Under-16 team at Skyline University ground.

Dubai won by 170 runs. Panoli hit 129 runs while Aravind scored 112 and helped Dubai post 338 for six in 50 overs. Panoli’s knock came off 103 balls with 15 fours and five sixes while Aravind’s ton came off 108 balls with eight boundaries for four sixes.

Aravind, who trains at the Cricket School of Excellence (CSE) is a 14 year old budding cricketer who got inspired by England captain Joe Root after receiving the best batsman award from Root last year.

In fact, Aravind was awarded a profession­al contract by his academy and was part of the Simply Life Cricket Talent Hunt Programme that was closely watched and mentored by Indian Team coach Anil Kumble.

Panoli was in top form in the National Schools League with consistent scores for Modern Heros team. The partnershi­p ended when Panoli got run out. Aravind stayed till the score reached 285 and was the third batsman to get out. Sharjah Under-16 team were bowled out for 168 in 35.3 overs. Dubai’s Yuvraj Jaisingh took four wickets while Aryan Lakra and Pradhyumna Jadish bagged three each.

Aravind said: “Being awarded the best batsman award by Joe Root last year was a turning point for me. My dream is to one day perform at the internatio­nal stage.”
