F ans young and old screamed, sang and danced as reel and real-life Filipino love team James Reid and Nadine Lustre, popularly known as JaDine, performed another successful concert in Dubai on Friday night at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Even before the Always JaDine Live in

Dubai concert started at around 8.40pm, the atmosphere was charged. The venue erupted when the duo came out; there were shrieking fans and LED light sticks being waved in the air.

The show opened with a video showing JaDine’s journey — how they started as a love team and who and where they are now in the Philippine showbiz industry. Reid and Lustre’s rendition of Perfect

Strangers by Jonas Blue and Let Me Love You by DJ Snake and Justine Bieber got the crowd moving.

From there, the energy level just kept rising.

In between performances, Reid and Lustre thanked their fans and noted how the Dubai crowd seemed to have a different energy level from those in their other concerts. Lustre, who was not feeling well before the concert started, thanked the fans for inspiring her to come out and perform that night.

“Thank you for putting me back on my feet,” said Lustre, whose mum, dad, sister and aunt were also present at the concert.

They sang together all right, but Reid and Lustre also performed individually. Reid sang two songs from his upcoming

album, Palm Dreams, including one titled Cool Down.

“My new album will be out soon, in two weeks,” he said. “It’s my baby.”

Reid also rendered his mash-up of popular songs such as Body on Me (originally sung by Rita Ora) and Shape of You (Ed Sheeran). Lustre performed Ariana Grande’s Greedy and Selena Gomez’s Hands To Myself. However, Lustre didn’t perform songs from her album. One of her more memorable performances that night

“Thank you for putting me back on my feet.” The duo’s ability to sing, dance and act has helped distinguish them from among other showbiz love teams in Philippine showbiz. NADINE LUSTRE|

was when she sang Touch by Little Mix, which she performed against a video montage of herself dancing. She also did a rendition of the song

Paris by The Chainsmokers. She told the audience she was looking forward to performing the song as it gave her an opportunity to share a video of her Paris tour last year with Reid.

The evening intensified when the pair performed I Don’t Wanna Live Forever by Zayn Malik and Tylor Swift along with a dance. The duo’s ability to sing, dance and act has helped distinguish them from among other showbiz love teams in Philippine showbiz.

Others who performed at the show were Chad Kinis, Filipino comedian and G-force dancers.

Organisers and fans did their part to surprise the celebrities with an impromptu birthday song for Reid, who will be celebrating his 24th birthday on May 11. Reid was also given a cake during the show.

Of course the night would not be complete without the songs that the duo popularised, including No Erase,

Bahala Na and Hanap-Hanap. The power couple ended the more-than-an-hourlong show with the soundtrack of their past television soap operas, On The

Wings of Love and Till I Met You. The show once again proved that the duo are well-rounded performers who can pull off a great concert. Compared to their previous concert in Dubai, the show was taken up a notch in many aspects including great visual effects, choice of songs and carefully selected outfits. The concert was well worth the time and effort.
