Dhanush wants to direct Hindi films

After making a successful Bollywood debut with Dhanush now wants to try his hands at directing Hindi films. The actor received a lot of critical acclaim for his performance of an obsessive lover, Kundan Shankar, in the Anand L Rai-directed film. He said the film helped him reach a wider audience and he is now planning to increase his sway further by venturing into direction in Bollywood.

“Ranjhanaa and Shamitabh really gave me a wider exposure to Hindispeaking audience. And post that, I got to know how it works here. I’m happy that the kind of films I’m doing right now is reaching a wider audience and I’m looking forward to direct Hindi films as well,” he said.

There actor is also prepping for his Hollywood debut with Erin Moriarty, Barkhad Abdi, Berenice Bejo and SarahJeanne Labrosse with a film titled The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir.

“I can’t ask for more. It has been a great journey from where I started to where I am today. I am really blessed and it’s just that world has become smaller now. The exposure is much wider. Few years ago, it was completely different.

“Now you go to any country, city or continent and just say ‘Bollywood’ and they will know. So, it means everybody is watching everything.”

Dhanush will next be seen in VIP 2 alongside Kajol.-PTI
