Company buses have to use alternative routes from Abu Dhabi–Al Ain highway from today

- Staff Report

Colonel Salem Al Daheri, traffic director for external roads and highways at the Abu Dhabi Police, said the move will also reduce traffic congestion during peak hours, and ensure smoother travel for people living in the area.

Company buses that are transporting workers will no longer be allowed to use the Bani Yas Bridge, the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate announced in a statement yesterday.

The decision has been taken in order to enhance road safety and reduce accidents, and it will be implemented from today.

Colonel Salem Al Daheri, traffic director for external roads and highways at the Abu Dhabi Police, said the move will also reduce traffic congestion during peak hours, and ensure smoother travel for people living in the area.

To further ensure this, eight traffic signs have also been installed on Bani Yas Bridge to warn drivers about the ban.

Private companies and drivers who transport workers should adhere to this new regulation, he added.

Instead of Bani Yas Bridge, they can opt for alternative routes that have been designated from Abu Dhabi–Al Ain highway at Al Mafraq to better serve the vehicular and bus traffic to and from the Workers City.

Violators will be fined Dh1,000 and will incur four black points, according to Ministerial Resolution No. 178 of 2017 on Rules and Procedures of Traffic Control.
