Suicide case turns out to be murder
Suspect tried to mislead police by leaving worker’s body on his bed with cloth tied around neck
Investigation by the Ras Al Khaimah Police has revealed that the death of a worker which was first reported as a suicide was actually murder.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) solved the mystery in less than 24 hours though the suspect had tried to mislead police.
Colonel Abdullah Al Munkis, director of the CID, said the police managed to identify and track down the suspect after the body was found at a labour accommodation on Friday night.
The body of the Asian worker was found on his bed with a piece of cloth tied around his neck which gave the impression that the victim had committed suicide. A forensic examination revealed injuries on the body.
Soon after, the police arrested an Asian man who claimed that he found the victim dead on his bed.
Subsequent interrogation revealed that the suspect killed his compatriot over a personal dispute. He told the police that both of them had a heated argument which snowballed into a violent confrontation at the end of which the suspect strangled the victim using a piece of cloth.
He then placed the body on the latter’s bed and arranged the scene of crime to make it appear like a suicide.
