Ajman University offers first doctorate programme in law
PhD course will start from the second semester of the 2017-18 academic year
The Commission for Academic Accreditation has approved the first PhD programme to be offered at Ajman University, which also marks the first doctorate-level programme in the emirate.
The programme at the College of Law will offer the doctorate of philosophy in law starting from the second semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
Chancellor Dr Karim Seghir made the announcement at a press conference yesterday in the presence of vice-chancellors, dean of the College of Law and other prominent members of the university community.
Dr Seghir said: “Ajman University strives to be a vanguard of impactful research and knowledge dissemination and therefore the successful addition of a PhD in law to our portfolio of programmes is a prime example of turning strategic planning into strategic action.”
Career development
Dr Latifa Mohammad, dean, College of Law, said the doctoral programme aims at advancing students’ knowledge and skills of the legal disciplines and enhancing their career.
She added that the doctoral programme will contribute to the development of the UAE community and other communities of Gulf Cooperation Council, through the creation of a qualified cadre.
The new qualification will assist the students in attaining and holding higher positions in their workplace, officials said.
