Man hits $1m jackpot days after retiring

A n Indian man who spent 37 years in Dubai finally struck gold when he won $1 million in the latest Dubai Duty Free (DDF) Millennium Millionair­e draw held yesterday.

Kalapparam­bath Mohammad Ali Mustafa, a 58-year old father of three, who recently retired as a sales representa­tive, is now back in Kerala, India, after working in his last company for 17 years, DDF said in a press release.

He bought the winning ticket No 0338 in Series 253, for the DDF Millennium Millionair­e promotion at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in August a few days before flying back home to India for his retirement, the statement said.

Third time lucky

It was the third time that Mustafa had bought a ticket.

The winner said he had no immediate plans as yet with his $1 million prize money.

“I am very grateful to Dubai Duty Free for this new fortune which I will share with my family especially to my two sons living in Abu Dhabi,” he was quoted as saying.

Present at the draws held at Terminal 3, Concourse B of Dubai Internatio­nal Airport were senior DDF officials.
