UAE, Australia to bolster ties
Mohammad, Cosgrove explore cooperation in economy, defence and investments
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received Sir Peter Cosgrove, Governor-General of Australia, accompanied by his wife, Lynne Cosgrove.
The Governor-General was accorded an official reception in which the national anthem of Australia was played.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his wishes that the visit would contribute to strengthening relations between the UAE and Australia. Shaikh Mohammad and Cosgrove held talks on bilateral relations and ways to bolster them in light of the friendly ties between the two nations.
Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, was present.
The meeting touched on cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, defence, culture, education and investments, and Shaikh Mohammad and Cosgrove stressed the importance of further developing cooperation in order to achieve the aspirations of both nations and their peoples.
Shaikh Mohammad described the ties between the UAE and Australia as special, and pointed out that these relations witnessed significant developments during the past few years, and will see further growth during the coming phase.
Shaikh Mohammad emphasised that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, invests its international relations in achieving more fruitful cooperation, openness to other development experiences and cultures for the benefit of everyone.
