The joint UAE-Saudi Arabia civil aviation retreat was held in Dubai
The second day of the joint UAE-Saudi Arabia civil aviation retreat kicked off yesterday in Dubai.
The retreat was attended by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, and Abdul Hakim Bin Mohammad Al Tamimi, President of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation.
The retreat coincides with the UAE Civil Aviation day, which falls on October 5.
Road map
In a speech during the retreat, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, expressed hope for a detailed road map of economic dimensions that can, in the future, help with the creation of a joint civil aviation market between the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
“Through such a market, we can achieve integration in various vital fields in the aviation sector, such as air navigation, safety and security, and accident investigations,” Al Mansouri said.
He stressed that it is important that this joint market’s teams of experts begin working on overseeing studies that can accomplish these ambitions. Al Mansouri said that the coming stage is important in realising the vision of both countries concerning integration at all levels.
The retreat focused on the importance of feasibility studies in order to achieve progress in establishing the civil aviation joint market, and the effects it would have in boosting the economic diversity of both nations.
A number of workshops, discussions and presentations also took place at the retreat, touching on topics such as frameworks and mechanisms for cooperation in the areas of Aviation security, navigation, trade relations and infrastructure.
