Radars upgraded in UAQ to monitor heavy vehicles

From November 1, they will catch offences like speeding, overloading

-

The Umm Al Quwain Police have introduced a new set of radars and monitoring system to curb traffic violations committed by heavy vehicles like trucks.

Colonel Saeed Obaid Bin Aran, director of the police’s Traffic Department, said the new system, which will be activated on November 1, is aimed at organising heavy vehicle traffic and collecting data of all heavy vehicles plying on the emirate’s roads. All information regarding the vehicles will be saved in an electronic information system linked to the radars.

Col Bin Aran pointed out that the radars had already been installed on the emirate’s roads but the system was developed and upgraded only recently to curb heavy vehicle violations.

The new system has proved to be efficient in detecting violations during the trial stage. It would ensure safety and prevent accidents on the roads, he said.

The new radars would shoot pictures of speeding, overloading and plying on roads where heavy vehicles are not allowed.
