Promoting physical activities among kids
UFC Gym and APRSA join hands to initiate a series of events to support students in the UAE
UFC Gym and Apollo Perelini Rugby Skills Academy (APRSA) have joined hands to initiate a series of events focused on developing confidence, physical strength and coordination skills among children through innovative programming and coaching.
Several students of APRSA in the age group of four to 16 joined their parents to work out at UFC Gym’s 23,000 square foot facility located in Bay Square. They were engaged in a variety of exercises including functional fitness classes, plyometrics, mixed martial arts and endurance training.
George Yiasemides, UFC Gym’s COO, said, “Through this collaboration, we have combined the unique strengths of the UFC Gym brand, synonymous with adapting training regimens of athletes, and the ideals of a very physical sport like rugby that teaches dedication and commitment, for the entire family.”
APRSA is the brainchild of founder and former International Rugby Union and Rugby League professional from New Zealand, Apollo Perelini.
In 2010, Apollo implemented the first of APRSA’s Rugby Skills Academy programmes in Dubai. APRSA programmes have been designed and developed as a fusion of the best of Rugby Union and Rugby League to transform players and coaches of varying skills and ability.
Apollo Perelini added, “As a sport, rugby requires a tremendous amount of hard work, practice training and dedication. By aligning with UFC Gym, we are giving our academy members the benefits to draw from various techniques which include grappling, takedown and recovery techniques that are transferable to the sport of rugby, while improving all round movement and flexibility.
UFC Gym CEO Hamad Al Sayer said: “In keeping with our vision to give fitness seekers of all ages the opportunity to train different, we are committed to activating similar events and partnerships moving forward.”
