Revanth isolated in Telangana TDP

Party to align with BJP during winter session of state assembly

- BY MOHAMMAD SIDDIQUE Correspondent

Revanth Reddy, who was divested of all the posts in Telangana Telugu Desam Party, found himself completely isolated in the party ranks. On the one hand, he was the only one who turned up for the legislature party meeting that he had convened in the state assembly premises and, on the other hand, the remaining two TDP MLAs attended the meeting convened by the state party president L. Ramanna at a star hotel in Hyderabad.

The meeting was also attended by the four MLAs of the BJP and the two parties also decided to work together in the winter session of the state assembly starting from today.

Revanth Reddy was sacked as the TTDLP leader and state party working president following the reports that he was planing to join the Congress party. Though Ramanna had invited Revanth to attend the meeting yesterday as an ordinary MLA, he did not turn up.

The TDP originally had 15 members in the assembly but was left with three as 12 members defected to the ruling TRS.

After the meeting, the BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy told the media that the two parties will work together to bring the government to account in the assembly.

TDP MLA Sandra Venkat Veeraiah said the two parties would raise the issues of farmers as well as the incidence of the police beating up Dalits in Nerella village in Sricilla.

L Ramanna said that the party had still not decided who would be the leader of TDLP.

The winter session of Telangana Legislative Assembly will last a record 50 days. This was decided yesterday at the Business Advisory Committee meeting chaired by the Speaker Madhusduhana Chary.

The BAC also decided to increase the Question Hour duration from one hour to one and a half hours. The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, legislative affairs minister T Harish Rao, deputy speaker Padma Devendra Reddy, leader of the opposition K Jana Reddy, BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy, government whip K Eshwar.

As Telugu Desam had removed Revanth Reddy from the position of the party’s floor leader, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah represented the party.
