Cabbie stole woman’s money from wallet

Ataxi driver has been accused of stealing an elderly woman’s Dh2,000 and two personal cards that were in her wallet that she had forgotten in his vehicle.

The 65-year-old woman called for a taxi before the 26-year-old Pakistani driver arrived at her residence in Al Rashidiya in September.

The woman left her house accompanied by her maid, and went to a villa, from where her maid went in and purchased vine leaves. When they returned, she forgot her wallet in the back seat. When she called the driver on the phone, he said he did not find anything in the taxi. Then she called the police.

Jail wardens did not bring the suspect to the Dubai Court of First Instance where he was scheduled to enter his plea yesterday.
