Social media users slam father as girl, 4, battles for life in ICU

Afour-year-old girl is fighting for her life after she was accidently shot in the head by her father as he was testing a rifle in Qurayyat in northern Saudi Arabia, the Jawf Province police said.

Saudi news site Sabq yesterday quoted Yazeed Al Nawmes, an official, as saying that “the girl was shot as her father was testing his rifle in the courtyard of their home. The rifle licensed in the name of her father was seized”.

The girl remains in intensive care in a Riyadh hospital.

Social media users heavily criticised the father for his recklessness and negligence.

“I wonder what kind of a father tests a gun amid his children in his own home. There is no real security with firearms and if there is any problem, all the people around will be harmed,” Mashari Al Harbi posted.

“He is guilty and he should be punished because his recklessness harmed a member of society,” another user called ‘Nice Boy’ said.
