Habtoor Polo clinch inaugural league

Defeat Mahra Polo in a closely contested final

Habtoor Polo defeated Mahra Polo by 8-7.5 to win the First Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club (AHPRC) League held over the weekend.

The final went the distance with both teams battling hard for a win. Despite of a twogoal gap with only two minutes to go, Habtoor Polo dug in deep to achieve a narrow victory and win the league.

Prince Abbas Bin Ali Bin Nayef was declared the Most Valuable Player of the final and Mare Quini from Rashid Al Habtoor team was the best playing pony.

The first match witnessed Zedan Polo and The Royals in an intense fight for the Subsidiary Final title.

Eventually, the Zedan Polo Team clinched the affair with a final score of 6-4.5 with the team led by patron Amr Zedan, Prince Abbas, Rodolfo Ducos and Justo Cuitinio.

The AHPRC League is a weeklong 4-6 handicap tournament, held every month at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort Club and is one of the earliest tournament­s lined up for the polo season in the region.

Six teams have so far participat­ed in the event, namely Habtoor Polo, Mahra Polo, Kuwait Polo, Brunei Polo, Zedan Polo and The Royals.

The first of the leagues got under way at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club with the final being staged on Saturday.
