President of the UAE Polo Cup begins on Friday

Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club are all set to usher in the New Year with the 18th edition of the HH The President of the UAE Polo Cup next weekend.

Held in the name of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and under the patronage of Shaikh Falah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the two-week event has attracted some of the leading polo players in the UAE and from around the world.

Qualification matches at the picturesque venue kick off next Friday, with the grand final scheduled on January 19. Participating teams are ADS Securities Ghantoot Polo Team, UAE Polo Team, Abu Dhabi Polo Team and Desert Palm Polo Team.

‘It’s an honour’

In his welcome message, Shaikh Falah said: “It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to our ‘Royal Signature’ polo tournament held in the name of the respected and honoured President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“The affection for horses is an intrinsic part of our cultural heritage from which we have taken the inspiration to create an environment that upholds our traditional values which is reflected in the forward-looking venue we have created at Ghantoot.

“I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude to all our other supporting partners,” Shaikh Falah said.

The tournament will be broadcast live on television to audiences across the UAE, while Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club will provide live streaming of the games on their website, presidentpolocup.ae
