UAE medical teams treat poor civilians on Yemen’s west coast
Doctors visit patients at home as armed forces team steps up efforts to reach the ailing
The UAE Armed Forces medical teams are providing aid to needy people in Yemen. The teams offered medical services to people in the liberated areas of Yemen’s west coast, and are sparing no effort in responding to humanitarian cases requiring urgent medical care.
The UAE Armed Forces medical teams showcase the keenness of the UAE to help its brothers in Yemen, and alleviate their suffering.
The team is providing medical services to women, children and the elderly who are suffering from chronic illnesses. Emirates News Agency (WAM) accompanied the medical team helping treat families in the western coast of Yemen. The families expressed their gratitude to the medical teams.
The doctor leading the team said they were keen to offer medical services to those who need it, even visiting patients at home to provide them with free medical care.
Yemen’s West Coast areas were liberated by the Arab Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, which supports the legitimate Yemeni government.
The smiles have also returned to the faces of Yemeni children after the Iranian-backed Al Houthi militias had destroyed their innocence.
The Al Houthi militias left the commercial market in Mocha in darkness, until the city was liberated by the Arab Coalition forces and Yemeni government troops. Trade and commerce have returned and various goods have become available for consumers.
Yemeni traders and citizens stated that the UAE, through the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has exerted considerable efforts to rehabilitate various key facilities in the city, such as the Mocha Electricity Plant and the General Hospital. It has also repaired damaged homes of local people.
Shaikh Abdul Rahman Al Ghunami, Chairman of the Mocha Traders for Development Union, said that commerce and trade have returned to the commercial market in Mocha after the city’s liberation, which is once again fully supplied with the various goods and merchandise that Yemeni citizens require in their daily lives. He pointed out that the market is a symbol of the city’s liberation from Al Houthi militias.
Between April 2015 and November 2017, the UAE has spent Dh9.4 billion in assistance to Yemen.
