Thousands join Walk Together initiative in Abu Dhabi
Crown Princes of Abu Dhabi and Dubai join people of determination and others in walk
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, yesterday joined hundreds of citizens in the ‘Walk Together’ initiative held at Umm Al Emarat Park in Abu Dhabi.
Walk Together is an initiative launched by the Higher Committee of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 with the aim of engaging and integrating people of determination into social occasions and initiatives and to urge the community to participate in voluntary work.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed expressed his happiness at joining people of determination, volunteers and resients in an initiative, which encourages people to take to sport as a lifestyle. He noted that this initiative is a call to the community that sport brings together people in harmony and health.
He also expressed his happiness at the participation of volunteers for various events.
“Volunteering is a civilised value and a human instinct that reflects the essence of the human being, his benevolence and love for philanthropy for the benefit of others. Thankfully, this instinct is deeply rooted in the UAE society, on which our children have been raised and we seek to consolidate and regulate it through national projects and initiatives. Henceforth, the Walk Together initiative calls for solidarity, love and urges everyone to participate and volunteer,” Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed added.
