Don’t let one Maths paper defocus you

-

When

the CBSE board gives you lemons, what should you do? Make lemonade (“CBSEWhatsApp test paper leak: 2 teachers among 3 arrested”, Gulf News, April 1). Bad things happen: They infuriate you, hurt you and irritate you immensely. Awiseman once said: ‘ God give me the power to change the things I can, the patience to accept the things I can’t, and the wisdom to know the difference.” Clearly, the cancellation of the board mathematics paper lies in the category of things we cannot change. It is a stark reality. Take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. There are tens of thousands of other students who have been impacted too.

Sowhat do you do now? Well, look at the bigger picture and act like a winner. Stop looking backwards and plan for the future. In a couple of weeks, students would have forgotten everything about these exams. There’s something much bigger that is yet to happen. You are about to begin the twomost important years of your life. The next two years will decide the quality of colleges you enter and the quality of jobs you are going to get, and the quality of life that you are going to build for yourself.

Now, you can be a pessimist and keep feeling bad about the whole scandal, or you can be an optimist, but it is not going to affect your future. You look towards the future with high hope and excitement.

So do not waste time. Pick up your books, and start focusing. Because that’s where your future lies. Not in the paper that was.

End corruption in India

It

is fortunate that children outside India do not have to take their CBSE board exams again. The board exams are hard enough and are every child’s nightmare. It is sad that such important papers were leaked. There are so mnay questions the CBSE board still has to answer.

First of all, therewas a doubt if everyone would have to take them again but I am glad children in the UAE do not have to worry. It is unfortunate that students in Delhi are going to be the ones to suffer.

Yet again, the public has to suffer because the government and certain people in charge made a mistake. I cannot believe such an incident took place right under everyone’s noses. When will this corruption end? This should open everyones

eyes and hope that such incidents are never repeated.

Re- taking the exams no joke

Iwas

selected to scribe for a special needs child of grade 10, who has mild autism and as such, finds the curriculum very tough. She needs towork very hard for the exams.

She was elated that the exams got over, and had done the Mathematics paper very well too.

It came as a shock that the paper was leaked and all students would have to take a re- exam. Generally it is assumed that the re- exampaper is tougher.

It was very unfair to the majority of the students who worked hard and would have to face the issue because of negligence from the board. Thankfully, it has now been sorted. From Ms Nityashri Sankaran

A sad state of affairs

In

India, the students were disappointed after the government’s decision to postpone the mathematics examination because the question paper got leaked. The educational sectorwas the only area where there had been no scandal all these years, but this year that was shattered. This is unacceptable. Postponing exams will have more stress and tension, not only for the students, but for their parents as well. The government should investigate the leak and those guilty should be punished. This should not be repeated again. Students have many plans after their exams are over and postponing one exam will affect their joy. It is a sad state of affairs.

Calm down people

Examsand

paper leakage is an old issue in India. The fault lies primarily with parents, who are obssessed with their children getting top marks. This means a very high level of competition. As a result some succumb to the pressure and attempt unfair means to get by. Everybody needs to calm down on exams and focus on bringing up children of sound mind and body, the rest will follow.
