New boat and jet ski slipways in Abu Dhabi

- Staff Report

The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities at Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) has opened one boat and jet ski slipway each at Al Hudayriat Island, Al Mina and Abu Dhabi Gate.

The ADM has finished constructing 40 boat slipways, in addition to a car park and pavements for slipways at Al Hudayriat Island. The municipality and its partners are currently working on other facilities of the slipway.

Investing and operating Al Hudayriat Island slipway is part of a series of projects that include Al Mina and Abu Dhabi Gate slipways. All of these projects aim to promote the safe use of boat and jet skis in Abu Dhabi.

The services of loading and offloading boats and jet skis will be free of charge in case boat owners do it themselves. In case of requesting the investor or operator of the slipway to undertake the process, a fee of Dh100 will be charged. Around 10 to 16 free car parking spaces are allocated for each slipway. The parking of boats and jet skis will entail a subscription fee of about Dh15,000 per year.

Al Hudayriat slipway covers an area of 3,500 square metres and a floor area of 436 square metres. It includes a security office, a service desk, a workshop, retail stores, a mosque and a store, in addition to 40 parking slots for boats.

Al Mina slipway is now available for all community members and the municipality has finished the pavement of loading and offloading of boats. The slipway includes 40 slots for boats and covers 3,500 square metres with a floor area of 436 square metres. At the Abu Dhabi Gate slipway, the pavement for loading and offloading of boats and 40 parking slots have been completed.
