Is Doomsday near?

- By Thomas Matthew Parackel

It is obvious that we are living through historic/eventful times. The shape of the world might be different in a few months — the North Korean supremo meeting his Chinese counterpart and then getting ready for the visit with Donald Trump will lead to important political shifts and change in the balance of power.

But most nations, by and large, seem to be caring only for their private, selfish interests which might take the whole world to the mouth of hell. The North Korean leader visiting the South Korean leader too would be fateful and might end up as the big Korean tangle to the satisfaction of both.

But all the same, Donald Trump seems to be playing a role which does not augur well for the future peace prospects of the world. He should take an active interest in solving problems between Israel and Palestine, the two Korean countries and also in encouraging a practical relationship between India and China. If he continues to follow the present meaningless policies it might end up in further disunion between these countries.

Other world nations should also work towards making the world a better place for the lesser powers too, to live peacefully. In short the nations should come together in a more friendly way to make life easier for the common masses.

This can be made possible only by creating an atmosphere of benevolence and peaceful coexistence.

The world is balancing itself on a sharp-edged sword. We cannot afford to fall to any side. That would possibly end in the total collapse of human civilisation and whatever we have built up throughout the centuries. We have to wake up from the slumber of centuries and work sincerely for a world of cooperation, mutual help and living without threats and confrontation.
