DUBAI SERVICE COVERS UP TO SEVEN PIECES OF LUGGAGE FOR DH350

- Staff Report

Emirates service available in Dubai covers up to seven pieces of luggage for Dh350 |

Emirates airline has introduced Home Check-in, a new service which allows passengers to check in for their flights from anywhere in Dubai. The service is available for passengers in all classes.

The service is available for Dh350 per trip for up to seven pieces of luggage. Dh35 will be charged for each additional piece of luggage.

The service enables Emirates passengers to complete the check-in process from the comfort of their home, hotel or office and have their luggage transported to the airport prior to their flight.

Passengers can book the service on www.emirates.com up to 12 hours before the departure of their flight.

An Emirates check-in agent will arrive at the preferred location to weigh and tag the bags as well as check in the customers and issue boarding passes. Customers can then make their way to the airport and head directly to immigration, bypassing the check-in desks.

Ali Rashid, a 38-year-old Emirati computer engineer, said the new service will greatly ease the first leg of passengers’ journey – from the home to the airport.

“Carrying all the pieces of baggage and finding space for them in the car to the airport is one of the hardest parts of the trip. The Home Check-in service takes out this worry and creates room for the whole family to go together in one car,” Rashid said.

Mohammad Omar, a British expat in his 40s, said the service is especially beneficial for customers who have little children.

“As we all know, caring for children needs our close attention and effort, especially when you have baby bags and strollers. Home Check-in frees up your capacity by literally taking check-in bags off your hands. It’s one less thing to worry about when starting your journey, which really begins from home,” Omar added.

Emirates has been running trials for its Home Check-in service since October to ensure that the customer experience and security checks are “faultless’, the carrier said. The service seals each bag and stores them in a separate hold in the van. Emirates Home Check-in will be operated with a new fleet of vans.

Emirates also offers a Home Delivery service where luggage is retrieved, cleared at customs and delivered to the customers.
