Smerdon, Cone, Kundra, Lambert emerge on top

Winning quartet log 104 points to land Ceo Masters title

The team of Chris Smerdon, Jack Cone, Pankaj Kundra and Richard Lambert bagged the top honours at the Dubai Sports Council’s Ceo Masters Golf Day, topping the charts at the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course earlier this week.

The winning quartet shot an aggregate of 104 points to finish ahead of the team of Daniel Brookes, Jon Vail, Matthew Dadd and Mike Kaye, who scored 98 points. Gurbax Singh, Michael Herb, Omar Souab and Philip Henderson finished third with 96 points, while Chris Govier, Dave Minchin, Ahmad Kandil and Clive Mhende came fourth.

Sponsored by Fairmont Hotels, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Aquafina, Kings College Hospital and Cerner Middle East, more than 150 top business executives took part in the Ceo Masters. “We are really delighted to see this encouragin­g turnout for the first-ever Ceo Masters Golf Day,” said Ahmad Ebrahim, Acting Director of Dubai Sports Council’s Communicat­ion and Marketing Department.

“It is a pleasure for us to host a valuable group of business leaders. The purpose of organising the Ceo Masters was to create a memorable golf and networking experience for key business leaders of the UAE, and I believe we have been successful.

“Moving forward, this turnout will certainly provide us with a lot of encouragem­ent. We want to embrace the sporting and business relationsh­ips that are created and nurtured around this very unique sport. We have committed to run the Ceo Masters for three years, and we see this as a catalyst to organise more events to increase participat­ion and utilisatio­n of the magnificen­t golfing facilities in the UAE,” he added.

We now host three profession­al tournament­s in Dubai, and we are home to 11 of the finest courses on the planet. Thanks to these stunning golf courses, Dubai ranks as one of the top golf destinatio­ns in the world, offering extraordin­ary experience­s in perfect playing conditions.”

“For us at Dubai Sports Council, the focus now is on maximising the benefits from these world-class sports facilities that we have here, especially in golf. So in the coming days and months, we will be exerting even greater effort to increase the numbers when it comes to golf tourism,” Ebrahim added.
