While social media users did not think that people brought up in the UAE have an advantage over newcomers, some shared witty and nostalgic posts that long-term residents would relate to.

If the fact that I was born here mattered, I wouldn’t be sitting idle at home for these many years. If I were to go by what I have observed, people new to the country are more fortunate. While there are some cases where job seekers struggle and leave empty-handed, let’s not forget that there are expatriates who lived all their lives here and left empty-handed too…

No expat here has an edge over another with regard to being born and brought up here in Dubai. We newcomers are quick learners and learn everything fairly quickly. Been here since two years and never once have I felt that people living before me have some more edge. #NewinDubai
