Danger in pool
Drowning claims more than 1,000 lives daily worldwide making it the third leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide. Children below four years old are the most prone to drowning globally, followed by children between five and nine years.
• Never leave your kids unattended.
• Constant adult supervision is important.
• Young kids can drown even in 2 inches of water.
• Children should never ‘babysit’ younger children.
• Ensure you have pool gates and they are secure. Also, keep doors that lead to swimming pools secure at all times.
• Keep unused toys away from the pool so as not to attract kids.
• Install door alarms and always use them. You may also install window guards on windows if your house is facing pools or spas
