A customer must pay Dh25 a month after trial period to enable eSIM

- Staff Report

Etisalat is the first UAE operator and 20th globally to offer the eSIM function over Apple Watch Series 3 and it will offer a free subscription for the first three months for the cellular capability.

The pre-bookings for the watch will start from June 8 and it will be available effective on June 15. After the free trial period, a customer has to pay Dh25 per month to enable the eSIM on the watch. The operator’s postpaid customers will be able to purchase watch with flexible Smart Pay plans on a 12, 18, or 24-month contract.

“A cellular watch could be an interesting option for fitness buffs who can now take a call when they’re out on the water, or go for a run while leaving their iPhone behind. It should also cater to just about anyone who would prefer wearing a mere stand-alone device on their wrist,” Khalid Al Khouly, Chief Consumer Officer at etisalat, said in a statement.

Apple provides two sizing options for the Apple Watch: 38mm and 42mm. Customers opting for a 24 month smart pay plan can purchase the Apple Watch Series 3 (38mm) for Dh70, or the Apple Watch Series (42mm) for Dh75, each month. The standalone offer for the 38mm watch is Dh1,659, while the 42mm one is priced at Dh1,759. Customers can purchase the watch from etisalat Point of Sale (POS) or online, and can activate the cellular function via Etisalat POS or using his iPhone and watch.

To activate service, customers must update iOS 11.3 and watchOS 4.3, and tap Settings on iPhone > General > About and follow the prompt to update to the latest carrier settings.
