LuLu donates Dh1m to Dubai Cares

Donation comes as part of Dh10m commitment to the charity announced last year

UAE-based retail chain LuLu Group Internatio­nal has donated Dh1 million to Dubai Cares as part of its Dh10 million commitment towards Dubai Cares, which was announced in 2017.

The donation is in support of Dubai Cares’ global education programmes.

Also, as part of the initiative, customers are invited to donate Dh1 or more at checkout. The donations goes toward Dubai Cares’ Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools programmes in developing countries.

Sanitation facilities

The programmes aim to provide basic low-cost water and sanitation infrastruc­ture essential for a healthy, hygienic and safe learning environmen­t.

Tariq Al Gurg, CEO of Dubai Cares, said: “We are very grateful for LuLu Group Internatio­nal’s generosity, which reiterates the incredible spirit of charity and philanthro­py that is embedded within the UAE’s business community. Today’s contributi­on highlights LuLu hypermarke­ts’ deeply rooted belief in our cause and the work we do.”

Yousuf Ali M.A., chairman and managing director of LuLu Group Internatio­nal, updated Al Gurg on the progress of the Point of Sale (POS) fund-raising initiative that is running across all of LuLu Group Internatio­nal’s hypermarke­ts in the UAE during Ramadan.

“We are proud to support Dubai Cares’ global education programmes that address the various challenges related to access to quality education among children and young people in underprivi­leged communitie­s around the world,” said Yousuf Ali M.A.
