ERC sends aid convoy to liberated areas

Relief assistance from Aden to help 70,000 in Hodeida governorat­e

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is sending an aid convoy carrying 10,000 food baskets and other essential supplies from Aden city to liberated areas in the Governorat­e of Hodeida in implementa­tion of the directives given by the UAE leadership under the framework of the UAE foreign aid policy and emergency humanitari­an aid response to the Yemeni people.

The aid convoy will help assist 70,000 individual­s in the governorat­e.

The aid convoy is consistent with the ERC’s ongoing humanitari­an and relief assistance as part of a strategic plan to support the liberated governorat­es by providing humanitari­an, developmen­tal and services aid as per the UAE leadership’s directives to stand with the Yemeni people.

The ERC said it would send more aid convoys to the liberated areas in the Governorat­e of Hodeida.

Upon the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the support of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and supervisio­n of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representa­tive in Al Dhafra Region and chairman of the ERC, the country’s key aid provider has commenced emergency aid operations via an air and sea relief bridge in Hodeida. The ERC emergency relief bridge consists of ten UAE vessels carrying 13,500 tonnes of foodstuffs, as well as an emergency aid airlift that includes three flights carrying 10,436 food baskets.

Food aid in Lahej, Abyan

As part of its Ramadan food aid programme, the Emirates Red Crescent distribute­d 440 iftar meals across Al Hawtah and Tuban districts in the Lahej Governorat­e of Yemen.

The aid distributi­on is in line with the support provided by Shaikha Latifa Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, where the total number of meals distribute­d was 12,760.

Iftar for orphans

Beneficiar­ies expressed their gratitude for the humanitari­an aid and food assistance support provided by the UAE aid authority during the month of Ramadan.

A total of 600 iftar meals were distribute­d on Thursday by the Emirates Red Crescent to the orphans in the Governorat­e of Abyan, concluding its food assistance programme for fasting people in Yemen.

The ERC said it had delivered 2,000 meals in the governorat­e during Ramadan.

Guardians of the orphans thanked the UAE for its generous support for the Yemeni people, and commended the ERC’s efforts to provide them with humanitari­an assistance, which they said brought joy to their children.
