Man ends life by hanging from pedestrian bridge

Abu Dhabi Police investigating cause of suicide

An Asian man committed suicide by hanging himself from a pedestrian bridge on Abu Dhabi’s Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Road, also known as Airport Road, yesterday.

The police received a call at 11.19am that an Asian man was found hanging from a pedestrian bridge at Airport Road.

A police team was sent to the pedestrian bridge after the 13th Delma Street signal, and an ambulance shifted the man to the hospital. It was not immediately clear if the man was declared dead at the spot or if he died later.

However, the police investigations will continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police patrols had cordoned off the area and closed the road while the man’s body was brought down from the bridge.

The police did not release the name of the victim or any other details behind the man’s action.
