EGA receives first bauxite from Guinea

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) received its first shipment of bauxite ore yesterday as the company in the UAE gets ready to commission the UAE’s first alumina refinery next year. EGA is building Al Taweelah alumina refinery with an investment of $3.3 billion (Dh12.1 billion) and is expected to start production in the first half of 2019. It will convert bauxite into alumina for industrial use. “We look forward to producing our first alumina,” said Abdullah Kalban, Managing Director and CEO of EGA in a statement.
