The actress opts out of ‘Bharat’ in the ‘Nick of time’, says film director
The rumour mill is abuzz that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are set to marry.
While People magazine has cited a ‘source’ confirming the news, the actress has also bowed out of her Bollywood comeback film Bharat. News of her quitting the Salman Khan-starrer was announced by director, Ali Abbas Zafar. The filmmaker posted on Twitter that Chopra was not a part of the film, saying she opted out in the ‘Nick of time’. “Yes Priyanka is no more part of ‘Bharat’ and and the reason is very very special,” wrote Zafar. “She told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are happy for her. Team ‘Bharat wishes Priyanka loads of love and happiness for life.”
People cited a source close to the couple stating Chopra and Jonas got engaged on the former’s 36th birthday on July 18 in London. The magazine added that Jonas closed down a jewellery store in New York City earlier to buy the ring.
The couple has been the talk of the town ever since they were seen bonding at 2017’s Met Gala in New York. While they denied they were dating at the time, they were spotted together in May this year when the actress hit up the Beauty and the Beast Live concert at the Hollywood Bowl with Jonas by her side.
That same week, Chopra and Jonas were spotted at a Los Angeles Dodgers game. If there was any doubt about their relationship, the couple all but confirmed their feelings with their Instagram flirting.
The duo also set out to meet each other’s families — the actress accompanied Jonas at his cousin’s wedding in June, before flying to Mumbai with him.
In India, Jonas bonded with Chopra’s mother, along with her cousin and Bollywood star Parineeti Chopra on a trip to Goa; the couple also attended business magnate Mukesh Ambani’s son’s engagement party and were later spotted wearing matching rings. Their whirlwind romance continued in Brazil, New York and London, with Chopra even spending time with her beau’s brother, Joe Jonas, and his fiance, actress Sophie Turner.
