Elizabeth Banks has found her angels. Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska have been tapped to star in Sony’s upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot. Banks, who is directing the movie, will also play Bosley, an associate of Charles Townsend’s who directly interacts with the Angels. Townsend, aka Charlie, is the unseen boss of the agency were the Angels work as private investigators.

“Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ‘70s,” Banks said in a statement to Variety. “This film honours the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella.”

Stewart will be seen in the upcoming movie Lizzie, scheduled for a September release. Scott, who played Pink Ranger Kimberly Scott in the Power Rangers reboot, will also appear in Disney’s live-action Aladdin (2019) as Princess Jasmine. Balinska has appeared on British TV series such as Midsomer Murders.

In addition to the successful ‘70s TV series, which elevated Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith to global stardom, Charlie’s Angels also inspired two films directed by McG in the early 2000s starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu.

Banks is also serving as a writer and producer on this new version. Her Charlie’s Angels is scheduled to hit theatres September 27, 2019.
