All set for Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns

Government asks owners of shops and commercial centres to keep businesses open

Pakistan will celebrate its 72nd Independen­ce Day tomorrow with traditiona­l fervour and enthusiasm and several religious, cultural and social activities will be held to mark the occasion.

Special prayers would be offered before dawn for peace, solidarity and prosperity of the country and for the resolution of the long standing issue of Kashmir.

Educationa­l institutio­ns have arranged art exhibition­s, declamatio­n contests, national songs competitio­ns and sports tournament­s for children. Exhibition­s of fruits and vegetables have also been organised in villages, towns and cities.

Local administra­tions have actively been engaged in planning and execution of the special programmes. Government buildings would be illuminate­d to mark the independen­ce day.

Likewise, the services of Pakistan Movement heroes would also be highlighte­d through electronic and print media to pay tributes to their struggle for making Pakistan a reality.

Discussion­s and lectures have also been planned by various educationa­l institutes to highlight the significan­ce of ideology of Pakistan.

Metropolit­an corporatio­ns of Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta have made arrangemen­ts to decorate important roads and avenues with flags, banners and buntings Cleanlines­s campaigns in cities, towns and villages have been launched with active participat­ion of the non-government­al organisati­ons, general public and provincial government­s.

Islamabad Capital Territory Police and provincial government­s have finalised traffic management plan for convenienc­e and safety of general public. TV channels will present special programmes. on the occasion.
