Police patrols and an ambulance arrived at the scene and transferred the two injured persons, including the driver, to a hospital.

Lt Col Al Qasim said the driver was not under influence of alcohol or drugs, but was careless behind the wheel. “He wasn’t asleep or busy on his phone; he didn’t pay attention while driving.”

The driver has been referred to the Dubai Traffic Prosecution for investigation. Lt Col Al
