Tailor arrested for selling crystal meth in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Police have arrested an Asian drug trafficker running an illegal drug trade under the guise of his tailoring shop, the police said yesterday. The police also recovered six kilograms of crystal meth from his possession and referred him to the Public Prosecutio­n along with the seized drugs. The operation was called “Poisoned Scissors”.

Colonel Taher Ghareeb Al Dhahiri, director of the drug control directorat­e, said, the directorat­e got a tip-off that the tailor was in possession of drugs and wanted to trade them.

Subsequent­ly, the police formed a team and began monitoring the movement of the suspect and later he was arrested with drugs in his possession.

The accused hid drugs in his tailoring shop, but other workers were not aware of it, he said.
