Dreaded Maoist surrenders in Jharkhand

Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs200,000 on his head surrendere­d yesterday in Jharkhand’s Khuti district, police said.

Mahendra Munda of the Communist Party of IndiaMaois­t surrendere­d before Deputy Inspector General of Police Amol V. Homkar at Khuti. Mundahad had joined the group in 2011.

He was wanted in more than seven cases in bordering districts of Khuti. So far at least 60 militants have surrendere­d in the state in the last three years. (IANS)
