Abhishek Bachchan’s Bollywood career is a mixed bag filled with cinematic gems and duds. tabloid! takes stock of his \film choices that saw him take a self-imposed sabbatical in 2016.
2000: Acting plunge with JP Dutta’s war drama Refugee.
2000-2004: Astring of films that were box-office disasters including Om Jai Jagadish, Shararat and Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost.
2004-2007: Bachchan’s glorious phase in films with hits like Bunty Aur Babli, Guru and Sarkar. He was also appreciated in Yuva and Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna.
2008-2009: Dostana and Paa ensured that Bachchan remained relevant.
2010-2012: His four films flopped in 2010 including Game and Players.
2012-2016: Director Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan was his saving grace in 2012. He followed it up with hits such as Dhoom 3 and Happy New Year, but the heavy lifting was done by other prominent actors. 2016 saw the release of Housefull3 , which was a money spinner, but opened to mixed reviews. He goes on a self-imposed sabbatical after Housefull 3.
2018: Bachchan is back on the big screen with Manmarziyaan. — M.R.
