Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversar­y celebratio­ns

The Indian Consulate in Dubai will organise a series of events as part of a two-year celebratio­n of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday, Consul General Vipul said yesterday.

Starting with a function at the consulate on October 2, Gandhi’s 149th birthday, the events will include debates, quizzes, lectures, exhibition­s and film shows, he said.

The UAE is set to launch the first Zayed-Gandhi digital museum later this year.

Among the confirmed events under the programme is an inspiratio­nal talk by Sister Shivani of Raja Yoga Meditation Centre.

Sister Shivani will speak at Bright Riders School in Mohammad Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi on October 5 and at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 6.

The events are free and seats can be reserved through www.rajayogace­nter.org, said Jyothi Hulmani, director of Raja Yoga Centre in Dubai.

Appointed as a goodwill ambassador of the World Psychiatry Associatio­n in 2017, Sister Shivani has over 91 million views on her YouTube channel and over two million Facebook followers.
