Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations

The Indian Consulate in Dubai will organise a series of events as part of a two-year celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday, Consul General Vipul said yesterday.

Starting with a function at the consulate on October 2, Gandhi’s 149th birthday, the events will include debates, quizzes, lectures, exhibitions and film shows, he said.

The UAE is set to launch the first Zayed-Gandhi digital museum later this year.

Among the confirmed events under the programme is an inspirational talk by Sister Shivani of Raja Yoga Meditation Centre.

Sister Shivani will speak at Bright Riders School in Mohammad Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi on October 5 and at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 6.

The events are free and seats can be reserved through www.rajayogacenter.org, said Jyothi Hulmani, director of Raja Yoga Centre in Dubai.

Appointed as a goodwill ambassador of the World Psychiatry Association in 2017, Sister Shivani has over 91 million views on her YouTube channel and over two million Facebook followers.
