People opine if you are a feminist, you are angry

Igenerally don’t like labels because when people say ‘feminist’ they automatically think of someone who is angry or putting the woman’s card out. But no, it’s not. It is a way of life and a set of values. Some people call me a ‘Muslim feminist’ because I call people out for being a chauvinist. Also, whenever a woman speaks out she is told that she is overreacting or being aggressive.

Mind you, this will come from fellow women as well. So feminism isn’t about putting a label. You just stand up for what is right and that is something I have learnt from my dad, who is in his seventies. One of the best things he has told us is that education is your best asset, not marriage.

Feminism can be a buffet, where people can pick and chose what they want but it really is a way of life. It is all about being equal, that’s it.
