Opposition parties mull alliance in Telangana
Contours of an opposition “Grand Alliance” in Telangana have started emerging, with the top state leaders of the Congress, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Communist Party of India (CPI) holding a crucial meeting in Hyderabad.
In a bid to unseat the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), the three parties reached an agreement on the need for a broadbased alliance in the coming elections.
Misrule allegations
The state Congress president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, state TDP president L. Ramanna and CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy attended the meeting.
Kumar Reddy said the Congress was ready to work with all like-minded parties. “We have to put an end to this misrule of the K. Chandrasekhar Rao government,” he said.
Ramanna told the media after the meeting: “We are all united in our purpose of putting an end to the dictatorial rule of K Chandrasekhar Rao.”
Venkat Reddy accused Chandrasekhar Rao of trampling over the democratic rights of the people and abuse of power.
