Around the same time (mid-2000s), the newspaper’s design department underwent a restrcuture, became more diverse with talent from around the world.
“We brought in specialists with specific skill sets in design aspects such as illustration, graphics, caricatures, etc. This helped us in giving readers more appealing pages and better quality layouts.
“Moving on to the Berliner format was another major and smart step which took everyone by surprise. But it didn’t take long for both readers and advertisers to like it.” adapting to changes and adopting technical advancements in media industry, with the introduction of Berliner format being the latest example.
“Its news coverage reflects the diversity of the UAE and its keenness on helping build a balanced society.

Highest priority to customer satisfaction and adaption to constant market changes are also among the keys to its success.” marketing initiatives like raffle draws, free classifieds and bold reporting helped Gulf News capture the market.
