Plastic utensils should stop

-

Regarding plastic cutlery for takeaway orders, I think all restaurants should stop this practice completely and make this a mandatory change (“Speak your mind: Dishing up for the environment”, Gulf News, September 6). Sometimes I order simple snacks and in spite of my telling the waiter not to send plastic cutlery, they send it every time. Now, I have stopped ordering snacks. Instead, I prefer making a simple snack at home. It’s commonsense that you are sending a parcel to a house then they obviously have their own cutlery. Also, most of the restaurants prefer giving people plastic cutlery even if the customer has not asked for it. They should keep it on the table and give the option to the customer to choose between plastic and steel cutlery. This will save tonnes of plastic from going into the dump. This will not only save money, but will also save Mother Earth.
