Better late than never

It’s a landmark ruling to decriminalise Section 377 by the Supreme Court of India (“India strikes down ban on gay sex”, Gulf News, September 7). Previous laws against this were an evil legacy left behind by the British Empire when they ruled over India. Now, Section 377 has been scrapped. This verdict will allow people of the community to have a dignified life in society with equal rights. This change in law will measurably improve the wellbeing of people in India. Now, it’s our duty to accept those people affected by Section 377 and allow them to enjoy their life.
