Protection urged for bodies of deceased women
A
human rights body in Bihar has called for only women doctors to be allowed to perform autopsies on the bodies of deceased women at government hospitals, in a bid to protect their dignity in death.
At present, autopsies are conducted by any doctor — and by male doctors mostly — in the absence of any specific rules.
The National RTI Forum, an association of social activists, brought up the demand after reports came out regarding women’s bodies being violated during post mortem procedures.
