As battle for Telangana begins, Shah slams TRS
Amit Shah yesterday launched his party’s campaign for the Telangana assembly elections by lashing out at the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and urging voters to put their trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a public meeting in Mahbubnagar, the BJP president said the TRS had completely failed to develop the state.
Shah said during the four year rule of the Modi government Telangana had been given more than Rs2.3 trillion (Dh117 billion) in funds and the central government was committed to the state’s development.
Promises
He alleged that there had been no development in the state over the last four years, saying “4,500 farmers have committed suicide during last four years.
“KCR promised double bedroom houses for 250,000 families, has he give those houses?” he asked. “Show me one district where he kept his promises.”
Leader of the Majlis-eIttehadul Muslimeen Asaduddin Owaisi is expected to go head to head against Shah in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.
