Ariana Grande has posted a tribute to her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller a week after the hip-hop star’s death, saying she’s sorry she couldn’t save him.

Grande posted a video of Miller laughing on her Instagram page on Friday.

The post says she adored Miller since she met him at 19 and is sorry she couldn’t fix him or take away his pain, calling him the “kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved.”

They’re the first words the 25-yearold singer has shared since Miller’s death.

The two were in a relationship for two years that ended earlier this year.

Paramedics declared the 26-yearold Miller dead in his Los Angeles home on September 7. No cause has been announced.

Miller spoke frankly of his depression and substance abuse in his music.

Meanwhile, Miller’s personal trainer of says that the rapper was not depressed.

“I know people that are depressed and he was not a depressed person,” Harley Pasternak said. “This was not planned. He would be mad if he knew he died, he would be so [ticked] off.”

Miller, who died from an apparent overdose, started training with Pasternak, a Los Angeles-based trainer-tothe-stars, a year and a half ago.

Pasternak also revealed that he was expecting Miller to walk into his studio on the day he died.

“I was mid-session with someone else expecting him to show up about 45 minutes later. One of the ladies who works with me walked in with kind of a blank look on her face and held up her phone and there was a news release [about Miller’s death],” he said.

Grande introduced the rapper to Pasternak.

Remembering the good days spent with Miller and Grande, Pasternak said: “Ariana was such an incredibly positive influence on him as she’s someone who kind of lives a very healthy lifestyle. He thought that Mac and I would be a good fit for each other and he got hooked [on working out]. It took him a bit but when he got into it, he loved it.”

He further said that Miller was always in high spirits and was most looking forward to going on tour following his album release in August.
