Foreign Policy: A calculated and cautious approach

Former High Commissioner of Pakistan to India and an expert on Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Ambassador Abdul Basit, said it is good to see the new government is not in a rush and taking its time.

Basit was of the view that foreign policy is what states do and inspire internally. To a question on PakistanIndia relations he said: “We must pursue a calculated and patient diplomacy vis-a-vis India as the BJP government doesn’t seem ready to engage in substantive negotiations.”
